October's group event will be going to Seattle to the Kube 93 haunted house it is $15 a person but if we get more than 10 people to go its $11 a person. We will all meet at the church and carpool together leaving on Friday October 16th around 6:30pm. Hope to see you there :)

Bible study please have read Philipians Chapter 1 before you come to group. We will discuss this chapter in detail please bring thoughts and idea or questions you might have on anything in Chapter 1. This is a new format for group. Those of you who went with us to South Africa this past summer this is just like what we did with the book of Acts.

On the way home

I don't know what time it is back home but in about an hour it will be 1:30 am and we will all meet up and leave to catch our bus to go to cape town. Sorry i haven't made a post in a while but the last couple of days have been incredibly busy. please keep praying for David Wallace and Mary as they are still feeling a bit ill. today we worked very hard trying to do as many last minute things that we could. We had a mad dash at themba 3 but sadly we weren't able to completely finish beacause of a late lumber delivery. It was supposed to show up on monday and it's friday and it still didn't show up. But we vastly improved the center by building a fence with two gates, adding new siding, and making the building more secure. We also had to take back our rental cars, one of which was broken into a day ago by having the window smashed out. Luckily we did not have any thing inside to steal. But we did have to pay for the window. Also, if you read the neno's story post you read about the conditions that this boy and his family live in. Their house was leaning so badly that it was in great danger of falling over. It took the whole team, but we were able to right the house and add some shear strength to it. It now stands upright and is not in danger of collapse. Neno's mom was so happy that she was crying. It was so great to provide some security to their lives and show them that the Americans and their God really do care about the people in the squatter village in Thembaletu. All in all the trip has been an amazing journey that we have all seen God move on. We've all grown and have been stretched sometimes painfully. And even as i right this with tears in my eyes i know that we have changed many lives here in Africa. It breaks my heart to leave knowing that there is still so much that can be done. But we will continue the ministry any where we go and will always remember the stories of how God worked. There are so many that we don't have time to type. So all i can say is God bless and pray for a safe trip home. See you all in about two days time.

prayer update

Today the whole team worked hard to try to push out our final projects. But as the day progressed many of the members of the team became more ill. So we decided to go to the doctor. The team members that went were David wallace, David Moize, Mary Moize, Shelby Wilke and Rebekah Voge (bekah actually went to the doc on friday and is now better). David wallace was diagnosed with bronchitus, David Moize with a bacterial infection of the left eye, Mary with the flu and shelby with the laryngitis. So half of the team is going to stay home tomorrow. I (David Moize) am going to work and so is andy, kyle lauren, bekah. So please keep praying for us as the attacks just keep coming. We know that God has called us for a reason and are unwilling to give up the ministry. But we must be wise with our team.

Neno's Story

At Thembulthu 3 there is always this little boy that runs up to me he's 2 and he wants to be held all day long. I was holding him (Neno's his name) and praying about what his family life might be like. And a lady walked up to Bobbi and asked if we could help Neno's mom. She is recently a single mom and has a 1 year old girl and 2 year old Neno she also had literally no food in her house and no money to buy any food. On top of that she had one blanket for the 3 of them and her house is about to colapse and when it rains the whole inside gets wet. We got got to pray with her and told her we would see what we could do to help. The next morning I got up i found money in my bag i didnt see any there the day before. SO we were able to buy 3 back packs full of groceries and get 3 warm blankets and the girls on our team went through our clothes and we donated them to the mom and life gave us clothes for the two little ones. So when we returned with the goodies we prayed with her again and she was moved to tears but what she said was God sending her blessings. The boys and the guys at life are going to try this weak to repair her house its a one room house and its about the size of a minivan.

This week we are pushing to get the Thembelethu 3 site finished. It has been good working with the locals who wish to see a safe environment for the community's children. We have four more days here and new friends will be missed. I look forward to telling people aboutwhat happened in South Africa.

Sorry it's been so long since we've blogged. The Internet hasn't been working for a few days. Any way, the enemy has really been working against us these last couple of days. Everyone is getting pretty worn out and some people have gotten pretty sick. But our spirits are high and we are still optimistic about finishing the work we were brought here to do. We've talked as a team and have agreed that anyone who's feeling well tomorrow will go and work even though it should be our day off. Our time here in south Africa is growing short. I can't believe that it's been almost three weeks already. please keep praying for us though we want to leave withouth a list of things we wish we had done. We've done a lot already and i'm very proud of the team. Their troopers. we look forward to seeing everyone and telling them about all of the cool stuff that God has done and is doing.

Dude, South Africa is so amazing! I love it here! We've been wroking at one of the life community centers called Timba 3 alot recently, putting up posts around the area to set up fencing, mixing concrete, puting up fencing, pulling off siding on the center to replace it with ship-lap, and lots of clean up with the area as well, and were almost done! It's been amazing being over here in Africa over the last few weeks, working so much for god every day. It gives life so much more meaning, and its amazing to see how god is working through everone! I am going to miss being around here, but I am happy that I will be able to see my friends and family soon! This mission trip has been so totally awesome, and I hope to go again next year!

On the Radio In South Africa!!!

David Moize and David Wallace got asked to speak on the radio in South Africa. Kyle and I (Mary) got to tag along. Both Davids shared their testimonies and what we are doing here in George and how it is changing our lives. Kyle and I also got to speak too!! The station has over 100,000 listeners so it was pretty awesome!!!

We also painted the kitchen today that makes the food for the 3,000 kids a day. And one of the bathrooms at the same center and Lauren and Shelby finished their mural for the preschoolers which has a Bible verse they painted in English and Africans.

Things have been going crazy here. it seems like every time we rent a piece of equipment it breaks and we lose a lot of time trying to fix it or get another one. It's happened to us three times already. Two generators and a drill for digging post holes. Hopefully we will be able to finish all of the things that Life has asked us to do. Also a few members of the team have gotten sick. nothing serious just a slight fever and a cough, but it is still a hinderance. So please pray that our last week here in Africa can be productive and for healing for the team. God bless all of you. Thanks for reading, it's been awesome seeing all of the new hits.

Today is my 64th BD! I am so blessed to b celebrating it here in George, S. Africa with Life Community and this awesome Team! We painted the Kitchen (the real kitchen where all the soup is made) a beautiful yellow. We also painted a Bathroom Yellow and then Loren did a muriel on the wall in the Pre-school room and Sweet shelby did a Bible vs in Afrikaans and in English (3 John 14). Yesterday we were at two pre-schools and so blessed to here the teachers story of how she found Christ and then began working at LIFE! It has turned very cold and windy. The pre-school we were at in the afternoon needs more wood put on it to keep the cold out. Pray the Lord will provide that. The men have completed the fence all around Timba 3 but now r working on the Gate...but all the equipment they rent ....stops working on site...so that has slowed them down some. They also put siding up on the Life Center at Timba 3 and that will be so nice for the children. Well, we do miss you; we have had some sickness; colds mostly; some stomach problems ...so thank you for your prayers. Oh, tomorrow we give out blankets! Yea!!

Wow! George is such an amazing place to be ministering. All of the kids love hearing about Christ and love worshiping him. Its so refreshing to see faith without limits. Children as young as 2 are worshiping and trusting in God. It's amazing!

Today i finished my murral(sp) in Sorries room! shelby also finished her wall so when the kids and other staff came in we were able to show off our work :) we have been reading the chapter of Acts in the bible and i'm learning a lot of interesting things about what went on after Christ risen. i'm greatly enjoying South Africa and having an amazing time with all of the people here!

so i've been becoming more and more connected to God and his teachings and learning so much! seeing how everyone acts in George is giving me a whole new view and i feel like i've growing spiritully, emotionally and just more as a person. it's really beautiful down here and i'm up every morning at 6 to watch the sunrise! i haven't wandered off yet and i don"t plan on it :)

I have been having an amazing time in South Africa. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we go to two lessons; one for preschool and one for all ages in the slum areas. Shanty towns as far as you can see. We hold little children, tell bible stories, sing songs, and pass out food. These kids are beautiful and starving for attention. Some don't use toilets, and our leader Mary got wee'd on. They are most adorable. Saturdays we work with the youth 12+. We act out stories, provide crafts that we brought, and all the kids love it. The older kids know english. The younger ones speak Africaans (a Dutch-like language) or Koza (the K is pronounced with a click), which is a mixture of indigenous and other African native languages. The little kids love hugs and don't need word language. They love love language, and hugs and cuddles. I learned a couple of words from each language, and the kids love it.

Today we went to an amazing church. Two groups of children danced for the lord and for women's day. It was an answer to prayer, because I really wanted to go to a locally headed church rather than one started by a white pastor (nothing against them, they are doing great works as well). Our house roommate, Auntie Brenda, preached the sermon for women's day (it's a national holiday!). It was a beautiful, tiny church with so much life. The pastor was very warm and welcoming, and the congregation got a five course meal after the service. DEEeeelicious!

We are so grateful for the money everyone raised to bless George. We have used the money to build a fence, to get paint and paint brushes for walls and a mural that Lauren is making, and we want to financially bless the organization that feeds 3000 people daily. They have been living on prayer and support. The leaders here don't even get a salary for the work that they do here; they have another job that supports their living income. They have so many dreams and plans for getting programs to help these children thrive, and absolutely everything I have seen so far has gone into blessing these kids and their communities. It has been beautiful, heart-wrenching, and God-inspired.

Wow! We had the best day Saturday! One of the Centers was needing some work; so the guys had begun building a fence around the center; they were having to break through cement so they rented a Jack Hammer....Well, Saturday, all of us went to the center and worked together cleaning up the grounds; helping build the fence and loving little children! All the neighbors were watching us; and even said we were all "Good Workers!" Two men came to help us - which was so nice. And the Children....so sweet; we sang with them; held them; played with them and encourged them to help us do all this work; which they gladly did. We all worked so hard and then off to the Kitchen to meet with more kids for a special time of songs; a story by Kyle and a testimony by David Moize! It was so good! God has blessed us and used us beyond what we could ask or think! Thank you again for praying; you gave so we could come and you are here with us! God bless you and we do love and miss you so much!!

Salvation story

something kind of crazy happened yesterday. Mary had a dream that I should share my testimony with the kids at the kitchen. she dreamed that after i shared my story with the kids and led them through the salvation prayer 3 kids accepted the lord. two girls and a boy. So stepping out in faith and trusting that this was a message, i decided to share my story and lead the kids through the salvation prayer. After i was done i asked if anyone prayed the prayer for the first time and meant it. And sure enough three kids raised their hands. two girls and a boy. it is amazing how God works when you are faithful. also today at least two more kids accepted. bringing the trip total to about seven or eight.

It's amazing to be working with these kids at the life community centers. They worship god like no one I've ever seen, totally giving everything they have to god, even when coming from poverty strickien homes. It's just amazing to see how God is working through them, and how LIFE is turning these kids lives to him. I feel very blessed to be able to work with Life community services and help them spred the joy of having Jesus in your heart.

today was totally awesome. The team has had to be broken up for most of the week doing ministryin small groups. But today we had a chance to work at one of the sites that we have been praying for for over a year. it's called timba 3 and it has a very special place inour hearts because it's the poorest neighborhood in george. so it was cool how God brought us to this site that is very special to us.
we were working on the fence and people from the community came out to help because they knew that we were there to help and they wanted to be involved. the team had several chances to share the gospel. hopfully some people accepted. the whole day was a great team building time and everyone worked extra hard to bless these people.

So far everything is going well, the kids here and the staff are very glad that we are spreading the word of God and lending a helping hand. The Life centers are a huge help to the community, by providing food, clothes, and a safe place for the kids. Life is definitely something we should all keep in our prayers, so that they can continue serving the community and teaching about Jesus.

So there is this bathroom the preschoolers are supost to use but it if full of stacked boards with poop inbetween layers of stacked boards and the toilet is overflowing with poop and the walls are covered with it and the smell is so bad it is a distraction to the preschoolers who meet next to it. So Shelby and I got the lovely job of cleaning it :) so we used lots and lots of cleaner and were able to make it all nice and shiney and today we will be paiting it because the poop stained the walls even after over an hour of scrubbing. and the boys will be putting a door on it this week as well so the preschoolers will have a nice bathroom.

The teacher for the preschoolers cried when we brought her to see the bathroom she said she had been praying that God would send someone to clean it but everyone they had asked said they wouldnt go back there and clean it. It was very cool that a simple act of cleaning a bathroom could be an answer to someone's prayers.

George is so amazing, it's just as beaytiful as i remeber it! i have had such an amazing time ministering to everyone. i got to work at the consrtuction site we have and it was so much fun!! i also got to tell the story of Job twice now and my testimony once and all three times that i was speaking i could feel Gods precence. all of the children are so adorable! i can see God working each and every day in the lives of the kids and adults of George.

What a joy to be a part of this amazing team! I had the joy yesterday of sharing Christ with 4 girls and one boy (12 - 14 yrs old). I did the gospel bead braclet with NO bracelet on my hand; only God and then after we talked awhile I asked if they would like to pray with me; and they did. I encouraged them to tell Jesus tonight that they love Him and thank Him again for forgiving their sin. The children here are wonderful and I praise God for sending us to them.
Thank you for your prayers for us; we need them; He hears them; and He is answering!!

Ministry

Ministry's been good. Yesterday the boys helped repair a roof that was leaking over one of the life centers. The girls have been sharing their testimonys, bible storys, and teaching memory verses to the kids. We all have been loving on lots and lots of little children. The jungle gym we built last year is still standing and getting lots of use.

We get to help feed the kids meals (bread, milk, and soup) It is great to be able to feed the kids but it is heart renching when the food runs out and you have to hand back a bowl empty to a little child.

I can tell coming back to South Africa and working with the same kids is really made a difference. The kids instantly remember us and are ready to learn and play and are not as shy as they were last year. We are able to share God more one on one and in depth talk about how He works in our lives. Its really encouraging to be able to walk up to a 12 year old and ask her if she knows Jesus and hear her say YES!! And listen to her share about how God answers her when she prays.

Today we went on a cave tour in a place called the cango caves. We saw what is thought to be the oldest cave drawings in the world. It was a crazy and beautiful adventure through God's creation.

ministry update

So now we're two days into ministry and they've been awesome. The team is doing great and the gospel is being preached. Tomorrow we're going to start our first construction project which will include helping rebuilding one of the life centers which has become dangerous for the kids to meet in because of ill repair. so pray that that will go well. Also i'v been asked to go on a local radio station that is run by life and do an interview about what we'll be doing in the community. The girls have been invited to a women of hope conference and will be going to help build relations with local women. So God is good. keep praying

Hey every body, we finally made it to south africa and are preparing for our first day of ministry. everyone's in good spirits and is feeling well. there were a few bouts of sickness during the travels but with prayer and a little rest everyone is doing fine. we'll actually start ministry today in about an hour so keep praying and we'll let you know how it goes. I'll post again in the next couple of days
